Recap: In a year where managers are holding on by a string, Trey Hillman, the manager for the KC Royals was dismissed on the 13th of May 2010 and was replaced by Ned Yost, the former Milwaukee Brewers manager who came in 7th for the 2007 Manager of the Year award.

The team knows they are not playing up to their potential. Manager Yost has tried to encourage his young club to do better after a 9-6 loss to the Oakland A's. "We talked about that a little bit as a group after the game," Yost said. "We had a nice little bounce back in the ninth, but if our intensity was a little bit greater in the first eight innings we might have won that game. That's all part of it, developing a mindset that nothing matters to you. It doesn't matter about the heat, about an umpire, who the opposing pitcher is. Your intensity has to be consistent every single day. You can't take an inning off, a pitch off. You can be down 9-1 and end up putting a five or six spot on the board, but it does you no good. Because we were flat the first eight innings, the last inning was nice, but it doesn't mean anything."

The team's current pitching rotation and bullpen:
RHP Joe Blanton (Reliever)
RHP Wade Davis (Reliever)
RHP Jason Frasor (Reliever)
RHP Jeremy Guthrie (Starter)
RHP Kelvin Herrera (Reliever)
