Recap: After resigning LHP Erik Bedard it was expected that he would be on the mound by July but the team is currently reporting that Bedard will most likely not play at all in 2010 and while other teams beat up on the Mariners, the Mariners are doing a great job of beating up themselves. It seems that the veterans are having trouble with base running. Since the All-Star break, Jack Wilson, Ichiro Suzuki, Milton Bradley and Jose Lopez have all been caught on various transgressions. "There are no excuses for a lot of this stuff," Wakamatsu said. "These are veteran players. A lot of these guys have played a lot of games. We have to get better and make better decisions. That's the bottom line. To hear veteran players say, 'You know what? I messed up on that,' or 'This is the reason I was a little bit more careful because the base running has been so poor,' as a manager you think you're getting through to them. We talk about every scenario. When you lose, those things are magnified, and justifiably."

Injuries are taking a toll as well on the team. RHP was just put on the 15-day DL as did RHP Shawn Kelley. Both are expected back by the end of July. C Rob Johnson as well as 1B Russell Branyan may return to the lineup by the 23rd. Finally, LHP Erik Bedard has ended his season throwing on the side and feeling discomfort. It was later revealed that Bedard had inflammation in the surgery area via CAT scan.

The team's current pitching rotation and bullpen:
LHP Joe Beimel
LHP Charlie Furbush
RHP Mayckol Guaipe
LHP J.A. Happ
RHP Felix Hernandez
RHP Mark Lowe
LHP Mike Montgomery
