When Spanish held lands converted to Mexican property, the Vaqueros who worked the huge ranch lands as well as the cattle owned by the Missions throughout California, Texas and the Southwest.Most of the Padres were the blood of Spanish Nobles and Conquistadores who were quite skilled in the field.
