STATUS:
The Dallas Cowboys (12-2, 1st NFC East) will host the Detroit Lions (9-4, 1st NFC North) on Monday Night Football and the game is of consequence for both teams as the Cowboys can secure the NFC East and home field advantage (with a Giants loss). For the Lions, the picture is so much more murkier. With a loss to the Cowboys, they could find themselves fighting for a wild card spot and a loss in the final game of the season could put them out of the playoffs altogether.
"I'm not concerned about any of that," Lions coach Jim Caldwell said. "I'm looking straight forward at the team we have to face. That's our focus. Our guys understand that as well as anybody. They have a real good sense of that."
The Cowboys will find out how much this game really means after tonight TNF game pitting the New York Giants against the Philadelphia Eagles. A Giants loss will give the NFC East to the Cowboys as well as home field advantage throughout the conference playoffs.
