Recap: The Atlanta Braves are trying to get back to a postseason not seen since the 2005 season and are doing a smash up job of it. Sitting with a four plus game lead in the NL East, the Braves are looking to strengthen any weaknesses on the team and that includes CF Nate McLouth. While McLouth plays great defense and has speed rounding the bases, it's the lack of getting on base that is hurting him and his chances of sticking around on the Braves roster. In the time since coming back from the DL, McLouth is hitting .168 and has gone 1-15.
The team has been very lucky in regards to injuries. As of this writing, only four players were on the DL; OF Matt Diaz (swollen right hand), LHP eric O'Flaherty (viral infection), RHP Chris Resop (strained oblique muscle) and OF Brent Clevlen (sprained big right toe).
On the 14th of July, the Braves traded Shortstops with Toronto as SS Alex Gonzalez was traded to the Braves for SS Yunel Escobar.
The team's current rotation:
RHP David Aardsma
LHP Luis Avilan
RHP Brandon Cunniff
LHP Dana Eveland
RHP Jason Grilli
RHP Jim Johnson
RHP Nick Masset
RHP Shelby Miller
RHP Williams Perez
RHP Julio Teheran
RHP Matt Wisler
LHP Alex Wood
