RECAP: Carlos Boozer fled the Jazz locker room in search of his first NBA Finals ring, so he went and signed on with the Bulls giving them a potent starting five and a total of three former Jazz players. In his place, Jazz GM Kevin O’Connor went after and signed former Minnesota center Al Jefferson who averaged 20 and 10 last year with a hapless Minnesota team. Along with Jefferson, the team signed free agent guard Raja Bell. Bell, who was also courted by the LA Lakers and the Miami Heat said this about his signing with the Jazz: "That championship doesn't hold the same kind of weight in your heart if you're just kind of along for the ride."
In the draft, the team selected (much to the dismay of Jazz fans) Butler forward Gordon Hayward with the 9th overall selection in the draft. With the 55th selection, the Jazz selected Western Kentucky forward Jeremy Evans who impressed during pre-draft workouts despite his weight of 196 pounds.
