2011 Season Outlook: The Dolphins are looking to vastly improve off of their subpar 7-9 record last season and are looking to surround QB Chad Henne with an upgraded supporting cast that includes RB Reggie Bush. Whether this will be enough to get the team back above .500 remains to be seen.
Recap: Head coach Tony Sparano had a tough year taking his Miami Dolphins through a 7-9 record last season. In the offseason, his coaching staff took a hit as Jim Reid, the OL coach jumped to the University of Virginia as the defensive coordinator under head coach Mike London. Later in the week, IL coach George Edwards was named the defensive coordinator for the University of Florida. The franchise then fired DC Paul Pasqualoni and replaced him with former Denver DC Mike Nolan.
In the draft, the Dolphins strengthened their defense picking 7 defensive picks and only 1 offensive. With the 1st round pick (28th overall) the Dolphins selected Penn State DE Jared Odrick. The other defensive picks were #40- OLB Koa Misi, #119- ILB A.J. Edds, #145- CD Nolan Carroll, #163- FS Reshad Jones, #212- OLB Chris McCoy and #252- ILB Austin Spitler. The only offensive pick was the 73rd overall selection of Ole Miss Guard John Jerry.
