2011 Season Outlook: The Steelers have upgraded a number of positions, most notably their offensive line, and have added depth to their roster. Although they were outplayed in Super Bowl XLV in the final quarter, the team has regrouped and rearmed themselves. Look for WR Mike Wallace to have a breakout season this year.
Recap: The Steelers organization has been going through tough times lately and it hasn’t all been on the field. QB Ben Roethlisberger will miss the first six games of the season due to off field issues, Santonio Holmes was traded in the off-season. Both Willie Parker and Joey Galloway walked and signed on with the Washington Redskins.
In the draft, the Steelers selected in the first round Florida C/G Maurkice Pouncey with the 18th overall selection, OLB Jason Worilds in the 2nd round (52nd overall) and SMU WR Emmanuel Sanders in the 3rd round (82nd overall).
How the team will respond is anyone’s guess. Any team going through this much controversy will be hard pressed to put together a winning season but Head Coach Mike Tomlin has the chops to take on the task and spur his team to victory.
